Women

Women's Ministry at Church of the Holy Spirit is run by the Women's Ministry Council under the oversight of the Pastor for Life Groups and Assimilation. See below for an overview of the many different Women's Ministry Offerings.

Women's Bible Studies

Short-term life groups that provide opportunities for fellowship, scripture study and prayer support at a variety of times throughout the week. We now have Sunday morning and Thursday evening studies, as well as  Wednesday evening and Thursday morning offerings to further our outreach.

"I have been blessed during the women's studies I have participated in; the compassion each woman has for one another is so genuine. I have met so many incredible ladies that I would not have met, had I not taken a study. The same one word I use to describe our awesome church can also be used to describe the women in these studies...REAL!"     -Karin Shuck

"Through my current Bible study, God is reminding me that only He can fill me up, and that if I would just take the time to hang out with and listen to Him, I can experience the guidance, peace, and joy that comes from Him alone."    -Jennifer Rose

"With four different Bible studies offered on Thursday mornings, the fellowship time before classes begin gives the women an opportunity to meet and encourage women from all the classes. It also gives my children another chance to serve by setting up and cleaning up--with a smile, of course!"    -Bethany Webb

"I wish I had Mom2moM ten years ago when I was a brand new Mom. The time we spend with each other as we strive to be good mothers is invaluable. In a world full of a thousand parenting philosophies, M2M is a great place to come and get grounded in scripture, experience God's grace, and encourage one another that we have not permanently ruined our kids. :)"    -Becky Fetzer

"I leave Mom2moM every Thursday enlightened and proud by hearing all the wonderful things God is doing through us as wives and mothers. We are a source of encouragement and love for one another as God takes us through these wonderful journeys with our husbands and children."    -Amber Wilborne

Annual Retreats

Exhortation, encouragement and care... The retreat usually takes place in the early spring so check the bulletin, enews, or What's Happening page for the next retreat's date and location.

"I have found every Women's Retreat I have attended to be meaningful. The variety of elements such as worship, small groups, a speaker, testimonies, & prayer time -- speak to me in different ways. It is a rare opportunity for me to relax, enjoy fellowship with lots of other women, be encouraged, and recharge my walk with the Lord."    -Jocelyn Garrison

"We are very fortunate at CHS to have an annual Women's Retreat! The Women's Retreat, usually held in late winter/early spring, is an exciting time when the women of CHS spend a weekend away to, among other things, make new friends, strengthen current friendships, hear solid bible teaching, fellowship, worship, and pray, all while strengthening their relationship with Jesus and glorifying His Holy name. Lives are transformed during this time of rejuvenation."    -Karen Brownmiller

Leadership Training

...involving and equipping our lay leaders according to the Ephesians 4 model.

"The leadership training provided through Women's Ministry is likened to a treasure chest chocked full of gems, treats, and various sundries. It's a complete equipping, abounding in resources that will be useful time and time again, in many different arenas."    -Sherri Stebbins

Special Outings

Trips to conferences to hear outside speakers and gain fresh insights from a biblical perspective...in 2010, we attended the E-Women Conference and sponsored a field trip for Mom2moM to hear John Rosemond. This year, we have planned to "road trip" to Beth Moore's Conference in Charlotte, NC.

"Events like the Extraordinary Women's Conference act as a VITAL part of my walk. Fellowship with other Christian women and being spiritually fed by awesome teachers recharge my battery to be the servant that I desire to be -- as a wife, a mom, and in the church."    -Stacey Bravo

Fall and Spring Programs/Tea and Testimonies

Large group events that cast vision, knit hearts together and express appreciation.

"Tea and Testimony is a time for reflecting on the blessings received during the various study sessions--inspirations gleaned, insights shared, comforts offered, prayers answered, and precious friendships developed."    -Nancy Steinweg

"Women's Ministry's semiannual Kick Off events set the tone for encouraging women to connect with other women through an array of studies that will equip their spiritual growth. The Tea and Testimonies celebrate the many ways women participating in the individual groups have experienced growth and the caring of other women."    -Helen Deyerle
