Inquisitive seekers of knowledge, elementary children need special ministry which allows for spiritual development as they grow physically. We provide what they need: programming that couples Christian education with relationship. Friendships are encouraged and nurtured as boys and girls participate in Sunday School, Kid's Praise, Sunday Night Live!, a summer overnight camp and the valley's best VBS. We equip our children with Christ's love and God's Word through various Sunday School opportunities and small group activities. We teach children to care through various outreach opportunities in both Club 56 and VBS and through ongoing missions challenges.
Sunday mornings
Get equipped on Sunday mornings from 10-10:45 a.m. in Sunday School, which is offered in the lower level of the church. From 11:00-12:00 noon, we offer Kid's Praise for 1st through 4th graders. Since 2000, Scott Habeeb has ignited a desire in children to truly worship God through music, the Word, and small group discussions. This is a great way for the children of CHS to grow in their understanding of the Word and their development of relationships with Christ and one another.
Sunday evenings
On Sunday evenings, we offer Sunday Night Live! for kindergarten through 4th graders, which provides fun fellowship activities and an inspirational message to launch kids into the next week. We will be utilizing the Pioneer Clubs Exploring Program, which engages children through the high-energy fun of a large-group presentation as well as the relationship-building aspects of small group discussion. The program places heavy emphasis on discipleship and outreach.
Club 56 is the perfect place for "tweens"! A unique ministry to 5th and 6th graders, Club 56 is a high energy, highly social, loud and exciting atmosphere where students interact with God's truth and one another.
Small Groups
The best way to get equipped in God's Word is through a small group!! This is an essential way to grow! In our small groups, we provide opportunities to study the Bible with your peers and learn how the Bible applies to everyday life. Friends are always welcome and encouraged to attend. Small groups for 5th and 6th grade girls' & guys' meet for 6-8 weeks throughout the summer. Gender-specific groups are led by volunteer leaders.
Multi-age Sunday
Throughout the year, Children's Ministry offers multi-age Sundays as an opportunity for the little ones to meet and greet the older children. These special Sundays are offered at various times throughout the year. On these Sundays, children are given immediate opportunity to apply the week's lesson through caring for others. From preparing hurricane victim care packages to creating inspiring placemats for prisoners, children are actively involved in sharing their faith with those less fortunate than themselves. These Sundays also provide a chance for the older elementary students to interact with and inspire the younger children by sharing in Christian fellowship as the Bible calls us to do.
Summer Activities
Every summer, CHS Children's Ministry hosts a themed Vacation Bible School. It is a weeklong event in which certain stories and people of the Bible are examined and explored to teach important Scriptural truths. The children are exposed to the love of Christ through stories, stations and volunteers. Every year, a service project and missions goal are chosen. Excitement builds throughout the week as teams of children compete to bring in the most items to support the service project and advance the missions goal. VBS is a vital opportunity to share Christ with the young ones at CHS and introduce them into the service aspect of their faith.
We also connect with the children through Thursday morning child care and Bible lessons. We offer Bible studies on Thursday mornings to 1st through 5th graders while their moms are in Bible studies themselves. Childcare for younger ages is also provided.
